Phoenix - Lisztomania

Great song off a great album from a great band that deserves the great amount of attention they’re finally receiving.  The video is pretty understated, but this is one of those songs that you could see being everywhere.  Cool interview with them in Pitchfork too.

Phoenix - “1901”

Catchy!  Too much work to do for further commentary, but I agree with the critics in that this whole album is great.

One of the weirdest music videos I’ve ever seen.  A little disappointing; “Two Weeks” has the potential to be a break-out hit and this video just makes Grizzly Bear seem really fucking weird.  Which they are, I guess.

“Ready, Able” by Grizzly Bear

Speechless.  Veckatimest just leaked at 320kbps.  The vinyl will be here in less than 2 weeks, I think I’m going to have a listening party or something.  And by listening party I mean turning the lights down in my room, sitting back in my chair, and listening to it for 3 hours straight.

P4K Fest is getting out of hand

In their own words, “Just when you thought the lineup for 2009 Pitchfork Music Festival couldn’t get any better… it just did!”

I was already amped for The National, Grizzly Bear, Flaming Lips, Yeasayer and Blitzentrapper, but adding DOOM put it in a new orbit.  Is his new album that great?  No, not really, but he will be a sweet live act and has an amazing back catalogue.  This festival is singlehandedly slicing my “to-see” list down considerably, I just hope the weather is alright.

Currently going through my Luda photos from last night.  Loving this one because it doesn’t even look like I shot it at a concert.

Pitchfork: Radiohead: Pablo Honey: Collector's Edition / The Bends: Collector's Edition / OK Computer: Collector's Edition

3-way review over at Pitchfork of the collector sets of Radiohead’s Pablo Honey, OK Computer and The Bends.  I was thinking as I clicked on the link that “if they don’t give OK Computer and The Bends 10’s I’m going to flip.”  Luckily, they gave them both 10’s and Pablo Honey a “wtf” 5.4.  Weird reading review, but spot-on.

The Knux - “The List”

Just heard about these guys, and they are sick.  I feel better and better about the future of hip-hop every time I hear an innovative new group like this.

Kings of Leon - Slow Night, So Long

Their new album is a hit, but I prefer these guys’ older stuff by far.  This song is off one of their early albums, which had a lot more grit and personality than their new one.

This song also brings back an amazing, boozy memory of Lollapalooza a couple years ago, when Eddie Vedder joined then on stage and this happened.  My favorite part of that video, besides the epicness, is at about 1:10 when Eddie looks down, realizes that he is destroying his tambourines, and just starts jamming even harder.  Rumor has it that they’re gonna be back this year, hopefully it’ll be as good of a show as 2007.
